Covid 19 is impacting our children in many ways and parents have to pay close attention.
That’s the message from Dr Roxane Mitchell, General Manager of Primary Care Services at the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA).
Speaking on Tuesday during the Division of Health’s media briefing, Dr. Mitchell said the impact of COVID-19 is beginning to show in children.
She said some of the issues affecting children, at this time, include the new mode of learning, deadlines to be met, increased amount of time being spent using technology, among others.
Dr Mitchell said parents/guardians need to maintain a schedule for their children, as was done pre-COVID-19.
She also asked that parents/guardians pay close attention to children’s overall hygiene, with an emphasis on oral care.
She added that children must engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
Dr Mitchell suggested less use of technology and more physical activity for children especially during this time.
