Gary Griffith says TTPS need to improve response to domestic violence

Former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has commented on the issue of domestic violence and the deaths of several women recently.

He said unfortunately the TTPS has gone back to the old form of policing where officers refuse to get involved when a report of domestic violence is reported.

He cited the recent case of a woman murdered at the hands of her abuser whose family claimed she made 6 reports to the police.

Griffith maintained despite the police denial of the number of reports made her death could have been avoided.

He told the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital today that the response of officers to reports of domestic violence has changed.

However the Former Police Commissioner said not all officers are trained to deal with those situations.
