Police are investigating a house fire in the Gasparillo area, where the owner of said home is connected to 14-year-old Michael Sooknanan.
Sookhanan is the young man who was electrocuted while trying to steal copper from an electricity pole at the Pointe a Pierre refinery.
Villagers of Cotton Hill, Mayo, reported seeing flames coming from the man’s wooden house at around 9pm last night and immediately sprang into action while waiting for fire officials.
With water issues in the area, the villagers tried to douse the blaze and protect nearby homes by using sand and what water they had.
However, when fire officers arrived they were able extinguished the blaz
The man, who is said to be a welder that employed Sookhanan, was not present as his home burnt.
