The Water and Sewerage Authority will grant a three month Amnesty, to allow owners, occupants of properties with illegal water connections to regularize their user status, over the period July 19th, to October 18th, 2022.

The Amnesty will allow all owners and occupants of properties with illegal water connections to regularize their status, thus avoiding disconnection, penalties and the possibility of legal action in accordance with the Water and Sewerage Act Chapter 54:40.

The Amnesty will apply specifically to customers/persons falling into the categories of

  • Customers with unregistered swimming pools
  • Customers who are VAT registered and are currently classified as a residential customer;
  • As well as customers classified as (A2) for yard/building tap, who now have internal plumbing and have failed to notify the Authority.

Under the Authority’s present policy, persons these categories can face a one-year retroactive charge or disconnection of their service.

However, during the period of the Amnesty, these charges, as well as the Authority’s right to disconnect will be waived.

Persons in the above categories are encouraged to regularize their status by visiting any of the Authority’s Customer Service Centres, located throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

Persons accessing the amnesty, will be required to complete an application form, provide a current utility bill (no older than 3 months) confirming proof of address, along with two forms of valid identification.

Those who fail to take advantage of this Amnesty will face disconnection of their service, as well as the imposition of penalties and any other legal recourse available to WASA.
