Dr St Bernard: “Antibiotics are not to be used as treatment for COVID-19”

County Medical Officer of Health for Caroni, Dr Jeanine St Bernard, warns the population against the use of antibiotics as a cure for COVID- 19.

The senior medical official gave the advice while speaking at the Ministry of Health’s virtual news briefing today.

Dr. Bernard cautions antibiotics should only be used to address bacterial infection.

The medical official also appealed for persons to have an adequate supply of medication if they are in home quarantine for the virus.
