OWTU Leader Warns Of Legal Action Over Prime Minister’s Statements On Protest By Scrap Iron Dealers

Oilfields Workers Trade Union President General, Ancil Roget, is distancing the OWTU and himself from claims they were behind protests by scrap iron workers held in Claxton Bay on Monday.

The workers reportedly blocked lanes of the Solomon Hochoy Highway in Claxton Bay from 3 in the morning.

The situation is said to have caused gridlock traffic as far as Corinth.

Dr Rowley reportedly said in a Facebook post at 9.04 am, “So they have made their move.

Dump truckloads of sand and debris on both sides of the highway and block traffic!”.

The Prime Minister reported said “What a wonderful idea of leadership from Roget and the followers, including the UNC!

The marauding gangs of metal thieves threatened to, but did not complete the job of shutting down the country, so the leaders are helping them to get that done.”

However, Mr Roget said his attorneys are probing the development and legal action will be taken.

Speaking at a news briefing Monday afternoon, the trade unionist distanced himself from the situation.
