Cashier shot and wounded outside San Fernando supermarket

An employee of Jay’s City Mart in San Fernando was shot and wounded during an incident outside his workplace on Monday night.

The 25-year-old cashier told police he was conducting sales around 9 pm at the supermarket on Pointe-a-Pierre Road, when he went to retrieve an LPG gas tank for a customer.

While doing so, the man said he heard two loud explosions and felt a burning sensation to his right thigh.

A person wearing a multi-coloured hoodie jacket was seen running away from the scene.

The cashier was rushed to the San Fernando General Hospital where he is warded in a stable condition.

Police are trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
