Fisherman convicted for arms and ammo possession

A 23-year-old fisherman was sentenced to two years in jail for possession of firearm and ammunition, when he appeared virtually before the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court for sentencing on May 16th, 2022.
TREY PIERRE, of Cocowatty Trace, Mason Hall, pleaded guilty to the offences when he appeared before Magistrate Rajendra Rambachan.
PIERRE was sentenced to two years for possession of firearm and two years for possession of ammunition. The sentences are to run concurrently.
According to a police report, on February 23rd, 2022 officers of the Tobago Divisional Task Force were on mobile patrol along Carrington Street, Scarborough, when they received information of a man armed with a firearm. Officers upon locating the man, approached him and conducted a search of a bag that was in his possession. The search resulted in one wooden handle revolver, along with five rounds of .38 ammunition being discovered and seized.
PIERRE was immediately arrested and charged with the offences on February 24th, 2022, by PC Oneil. He appeared in court on the same date to answer to the charges, was denied bail and was remanded into custody until his sentencing hearing.
