A 42-year-old man was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 with surety by a Port of Spain Magistrate, charged with sexual penetration of a minor.
The self-employed labourer of Barataria was charged with the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Maureen Baboolal-Gafoor, on Monday 19th September, 2022.
He was granted bail and ordered to have no direct or indirect contact with the victim.
The matter was adjourned to October 17th, 2022.
The victim reported to her mother that a man sexually assaulted her on December 19th, 2018.
A report was made to the police on that same date and an investigation launched into the matter.
The accused was arrested and charged by officers of the Child Protection Unit on Sunday 18th September, 2022.
