4,000 vaccines to be delivered to Energy Sector, but Young says “administer on your own”

The Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Stuart R. Young, held an emergency meeting with energy stakeholders today (21st May 2021) with regards to the Government’s decision to allocate 4000 vaccines to the energy sector’s “front liners”.

Executives from the following energy companies and energy sector associations were in attendance:
Shell, BP Trinidad and Tobago, BHP, EOG Resources Trinidad and Tobago, DeNovo Energy Limited, Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Limited, National Gas Company Limited, the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago and the Point Lisas Industrial Estate Association, all of whom welcomed the vaccines for their front liners.

Minister Young indicated that while the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago would be in a position to deliver the 4000 vaccines by next week, the energy companies would be asked to handle the safe and orderly administration of the vaccines to their front liners.

This decision by the Government continues its efforts and work to keep the energy sector operating throughout the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister Young thanks the Ministry of Health under the leadership of the Honourable Minister Terrence Deyalsingh, M.P. for the continued cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries.
