26-year-old man told to stay 500 metres away from his younger brother

A 26-year-old man was ordered to stay 500 metres away from his brother after appearing before the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with sexual penetration of a child.

The order was given by Magistrate Indira R. Misir-Gosine as part of the man’s bail conditions which were set at $175,000. The accused was also made to report to his local police station three times a week.

The defendant, a lorryman, who resides in Princes Town, will reappear before the court on May 14th.
He was arrested and charged by WPC Hamilton of the Southern Division Child Protection Unit on April 14th.

The charge arose following a report made by a 12-year-old boy to Emergency Response Patrol (ERP) officers who were on patrol in February 2019 that his brother allegedly forced him to perform oral sex on him.

The matter was subsequently referred to the CPU and an investigation launched which led to arrest and charge laid against the accused.
The investigation was supervised by Insp (Ag.) Khan of the Southern CPU.
