Eighteen Prison Officers have been arrested in the past two years
These officers where held for attempting to traffic drugs in the prisons.
Confirmation of this came from Prison Commissioner, Deopersad Ramoutar at a news briefing hosted by the Ministry of National Security on Monday afternoon.
Commissioner Ramoutar said surveillance has been intensified in connection with this development.
Commissioner Ramoutar also gave a breakdown of various activities at the nation’s prison and what has been uncovered from these.
