11 arrested, firearm and drugs seized by the TTPS

Officers of the North Eastern Division arrested 11 persons and seized a firearm and a quantity of marijuana during an anticrime exercise conducted in the Morvant District on Wednesday December 9th, 2020.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Winston Maharaj, Supt. Alexander, ASP Pariman, coordinated by Sgts Davidson, Quashie and Mitchell and included members of the North Eastern Division Criminal Investigations Department, North Eastern Division Task Force, and Gang Unit.

During the exercise, several search warrants were executed at various locations at Paradise Heights, Morvant, where 230 grammes of marijuana was found and seized at Building A, Paradise Heights Morvant. Two persons, ages 31 and 26, were arrested.

A search was also conducted at Chaconia Avenue, Coconut Drive, Morvant, where 55 grams of marijuana was found and seized.

A 28-year-old man, of Chaconia Avenue, Coconut Drive, Morvant, was arrested. A 19-year-old of Hillview Drive, Upper 6th Avenue, Malick was detained relative to Robbery enquiries in the San Juan district.

As a result of information received, officers went to a guest house located at Lady Chancellor Road, Port-of-Spain, where a room was searched and one .38 revolver with two live .38 rounds of ammunition was found in the ceiling. Seven persons were arrested.

The arrested persons along with the illegal items were conveyed to the Morvant Police Station.

Enquiries are ongoing.
