Zimbabwe Declares Drought Disaster

A state of disaster is declared in Zimbabwe.

This is due to a drought affecting much of southern Africa.

The country’s President says the nation needs $2 billion for humanitarian assistance.

Zambia and Malawi have also declared state of disaster where the drought has impacted crops leaving millions of people in need of food assistance.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa  in a speech calling for international aid appealed to United Nations agencies, local businesses and faith organisations to contribute towards humanitarian assistance.
