Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan says that the water levels in the Caroni River have dropped significantly.
He says the waters are receding quickly, however there are still some concerns with water levels in other low lying areas.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning, he said work that would have been conducted at most of the water courses allowed for a positive result.
He said that the flooding issue is not one than can be fixed overnight.
In fact he maintained if it was as easy as some may think to solve flooding issues then more developed countries that have access to funding would not have problems with flooding.
He said the issue of flooding is tied to the amount of development that would have occurred in the last twenty plus years.
