Water reservoirs not in crisis says Gonzales

Despite the ongoing drought, the country’s water reservoirs are not in a state of crisis.

That’s according to the Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzales.

He says they are consistent with the dry conditions, and with the conservation measures put into place, the dry season can end without the country reaching a crisis position.

Just recently, WASA implemented a hose ban, and other measures including an updated supply schedule were put into place to help deal with the slowdown of water production.

He said: “By and large, the country has responded positively. People are doing what they’re supposed to do.”

Meanwhile, the Minister said today 160 million dollars will be spent to provide 90 per cent of the country with a reliable water supply by 2025.

14 wells will be drilled in 12 months to assist in this.
