UNC’s plans to work with smaller parties for LGE described as “humiliation”

Former People’s Partnership Trade Minister, Vasant Bharath, says the UNC begging small parties to form a coalition with them is a humiliation.

He made the comment as he gave a scathing assessment of the party’s current political standing.

Speaking with supporters on Monday, UNC leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar signalled the UNC’s willingness to work with smaller parties to unseat the PNM in the August 14th local Government elections.

Speaking on Power 102 Digital’s Power Breakfast Show this morning, Mr Bharath said members of the party must feel humiliated by Persad-Bissessar’s invitation to smaller parties.

Mr Bharath accused the UNC of being mediocre, lazy and incompetent.

He added that the party has attempted to convince people to throw out the PNM while not doing enough to prove that they can be a competent alternative.

He claimed that the UNC cannot win an election with this tactic alone and suggested that the party focus instead on positioning themselves as a viable alternative.
