Two men on the run following shootout with police

The search is on for two suspects, who opened fire on police officers during an incident in Arima last night.

Officers of the Arima police station were on patrol around 7pm, when they were alerted to a robbery along Woodford Street, Arima. Upon arriving at the scene they observed two masked suspects leaving the premises.

When the suspects saw the police, they alleged raised their guns and opened fire on the officers, who immediately retaliated, in keeping with the Use of Force Policy.

However, the two men managed to escape.

When the dust was clear, police found and seized a black bag, a camouflage hat, a black Samsung cell phone, five apparent 9mm spent shells and one apparent projectile, at the location.
