TTPS will no longer issue warnings for not wearing masks

If you have been found not wearing a mask, be sure that you will not walk away with a simple warning, but will be fined or detained.

That’s the new approach being taken by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) in light of the alarming spike in COVID19 cases throughout the country.

At a TTPS media briefing this morning, the Police Commissioner revealed that officers will be taking a zero tolerance approach to the Covid19 regulations.

He said there will be heavy emphasis on bars, beaches and food stalls with consistent monitoring.

Bar owners have specifically been asked to desist from entertaining customers behind closed doors in contravention of regulation.

Throughout this enforcement over the next three weeks, the TTPS will also be reporting to the National Security and Health Ministries and the National Security Council.

Commissioner Gary Griffith said the faster we adhere to the restrictions, the faster we can return to our usual activities.
