Two persons were arrested and six firearms and quantities of ammunition found by officers during several anti-crime exercises, conducted across the country between Tuesday and Thursday.
Officers of the North Central Division, Area West, conducted an anti- crime exercise between 4:30am and 8:30am, on Thursday during which they proceeded to a forested area at Buena Vista East.
A search resulted in one Glock 17 pistol loaded with an extended magazine and one Smith and Wesson revolver.
The officers also found a total of 36 rounds of assorted ammunition.
Also in the Northern Division, several firearm eradication exercises were conducted between 2:40pm and 9pm, on Thursday in the Arima district.
During the exercise, officers acting on information intercepted a 24- seater maxi taxi heading east along the Priority Bus Route in the vicinity of D’Abadie.
Officers conducted a search of a male passenger and found in his possession a firearm loaded with one round of .40 ammunition.
One round of 5.56 ammunition was also found in his pants pocket.
The man was arrested in connection with the find.
