Certificate of Character system back up; applications expected to resume next week

After being down for almost a month, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) said it hopes to begin reissuing Certificate of Character (CoC) applications by next week.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Curt Simon, speaking at the TTPS media briefing on Thursday afternoon, said it could resume, “if all goes how it’s supposed to go.”

DCP Simon said the service should resume by Wednesday. However he described it as temporary relief.

“It is a technical matter and it is quite intricate because I had a conversation on it only up to yesteday, we are expecting some temporary relief to be forthcoming shortly and we are trying to navigate our way out of that technical situation so we can restore the service that system gives to the country,” DCP Simon explained.

The TTPS said the CoC system has been down since February 14,2023.
