T&T, Guyana sign MOU to remove non-tariff barriers

The governments of both Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana signed an essential Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on Sunday morning.

At a ceremony at the State House in Georgetown, Guyana, Foreign Affairs Minister Hugh Todd and TT’s Foreign Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne, signed the MOU agreeing to remove non-tariff barriers and deal with a number of areas of concern related to the agricultural and agro-processing sectors.

The agreement will also see the possibility of a cargo ferry service, that will transport food and people between both CARICOM nations.

The signing was in the presence of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and Guyana’s PM Mohammed Irfan Ali.

Prime Minister Rowley is set to host a press conference at 2pm today upon his return from Guyana, to discuss his meeting with Ali and further opportunities.
