Man robbed of over $50k while attempting to purchase car from a Facebook seller

A man was robbed of over $50,000TT when he went to purchase a car from someone, he met on Facebook at an attorney’s office in Arima on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old victim reportedly made arrangements with the suspect, to meet at X-Tra Food Supermarket in O’Meara Road, Arima around 10:00am.

When the victim met with the seller, he questioned him about the Nissan Almera for sale and was told it was being driven to the office of an attorney in Broadway, Arima.

On arrival at the attorney’s office, the victim presented $56,000.00 to the suspect, who grabbed it and attempted to flee.

The victim held on to the suspect’s t-shirt and raised an alarm.

However, the suspect then lifted his shirt, revealing a firearm which led the victim to release him.

The suspect subsequently escaped with the cash and the police were notified.
