The Finance Ministry says UNIPET owes Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited over 100 million dollars in outstanding fees for fuel

Acting Energy Minister, Colm Imbert, says he intends to intervene in the matter between Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited and Unipet.

In a media release on Tuesday Paria Fuel Trading Company says it will no longer be supplying fuel to Unipet.

It explains that “Paria has had challenges receiving payment from Unipet in accordance with the agreed payment schedule; this failure to pay monies when due has the potential to affect Paria’s ability to procure fuel from its suppliers.

“Paria explained that it will make available to the National Petroleum Marketing Company the difference in the quantity of fuel required to meet the country’s full needs.

Minister Imbert was questioned by Opposition Senator, Wade Mark, on the issue this afternoon to which he responded on what steps will be taken to address the situation.

Minister also gave some of the facts surrounding the development.
