Ten people arrested in Las Lomas for illegal electricity connections

Ten people were arrested and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station by officers of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service in Las Lomas on Friday night for  illegal electricity connections. The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) went with police officers to the  village in Las Lomas where police arrested and charged ten people.

T&TEC said the ten Las Lomas residents were charged with offences under the Electricity Commissions Act after illegal electricity connections were found at the homes.

The exercise was conducted between the hours of 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. at Harrynath Trace off Chin Chin Road, Las Lomas No 1. Police said when they arrived with T&TEC personnel , they saw several homes illuminated with electricity, but their connections were illegal and posed a hazard. Approximately 30 homes were checked, and all illegal connections were disconnected.

The ten people were arrested and taken to the Chaguanas Police Station. The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supts Montrichard and Gyan, and ASP Dipchand. It was headed by Sgt Modeste and included T&TEC personnel under the supervision of W/E Sgt Ali-Jacob and officers attached to the Central Division Task Force—Area North.
