Teenager gets 14 months in jail for robbery

A teenager will serve 14 months in jail for robbing a man of $100,000 worth in jewellery.

When 19-year-old Christean Marcano appeared before a San Fernando magistrate yesterday, the court heard that Marcano and another man robbed the victim, Brenton Vaughn De Leon, of a gold chain valued at $70,000 and a wrist band valued at $30,000. The men, who were both armed, also robbed De Leon of a $2,800 cellular phone. The men then robbed the owner of the supermarket of $10,000 in cash, a cell phone worth $12,000, $150 in cigarettes and $200 in phone cards. The incident took place at Rong Yang Supermarket, at Tarouba Road, Marabella on October 20.

Marcano had been previously charged for robbery with aggravation and robbery with violence. He was sentenced to 14 months on each of the two crimes but the sentences will run concurrently. Therefore, he will only serve 14 months in prison.
