“Sunday” denied bail, remanded into police custody

Akido “Sunday” Williams was de­nied bail yes­ter­day af­ter he was charged with counseling a gang leader under the Anti-Gang Act.

He was remanded into custody after he appeared before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate charged with the offence. Williams was denied Bail be­cause po­lice submitted what appeared to be William’s in­com­plete crim­i­nal record. The magistrate also questioned  the status of two rob­bery cas­es in 1998 and 1999 which ap­peared to be pend­ing.

Williams is charged under Sec­tion 9(b) of the An­ti-Gang Act, No. 1 of 2018. If convicted, he faces imprisonment for up to 25 years.
