State saves taxpayers $thousands by using virtual court hearings

Attorney General, Faris Al Rawi, says the state has been able to significantly reduce the bill to transport prisoners to courts by utilizing the virtual hearings.

Speaking during the Budget Debate on Monday, the AG said this development is good news for taxpayers.

Al Rawi said the government has been carrying out extensive work in the nation’s prisons.

However, Opposition Member of Parliament for Barataria \San Juan, Saddam Hussein, said he does not share the sentiments of the AG and claimed there is need for more work to be done in the criminal justice system.
