A 41-year-old Penal man was granted bail with surety in the sum of $50,000 when he appeared before a Couva Magistrate on February 1st, 2023, charged with Sexual Touching of a Minor.
The accused, a construction worker, was charged with the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Alexander Prince.
The matter was adjourned to March 1st, 2023.
The victim and her mother reported to police that on December 31st, 2022, she was at her home when a male relative entered her bedroom where he touched her inappropriately.
Officers of the Child Protection Unit (CPU) were contacted and an investigation launched into the matter, which resulted in a male suspect being arrested on January 31st 2023.
Investigations were supervised by W/Snr. Supt. Claire Guy-Alleyne, ASP Seecharan, W/Sgt. Cedeno-Figaro and Insp. Hosein, all of the CPU.
The accused was charged by PC Vijay Ramkissoon, also of CPU, on January 31st 2023.
