Shooting at POS Mayor’s home; gardener wounded

A man who works as a gardener at the private residence of Port of Spain Mayor Joel Martinez was shot and wounded on Thursday afternoon.

Police are yet to determine if the incident was an attempted robbery or a hit on the gardener.

Reports state that around 3pm, a bandit jumped the wall of the mayor’s residence at Perseverance Road, Moka, Maraval, after which shots were fired.

The gardener was hit in the chest and arm.

The private security company for the community gave chase, but the suspect escaped.
