One hundred and eight legally issued weapons have featured in serious matters engaging the attention of the police including four murders.
The revelation was made by Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, in the Senate Tuesday afternoon.
Minister Hinds said he was made aware of this situation by Acting Commissioner of Police, Mc Donald Jacob, on Monday.
Minister Hinds also outlined various steps being taken to address the capacity and professionalism of police officers with focus being placed on predicting, detecting and deterring criminal activities.
