Rowley: Deals made the Venezuela on oil and gas alive and well!

Deals made with the Venezuelan Government concerning oil and gas are alive and well.

Speaking at a press conference at the Diplomatic Center this morning Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said that there have been discussions between T&T and that country for some time concerning shared territory.

He said for some 15 years the Government of Trinidad and Tobago pursued an agreement with Venezuela however this proved fruitless.

Prime Minister Rowley said that the Government took steps to engage the Government of Venezuela to work out a commercial access in a way that was never done before which was to allow T&T to commercially operate in a Venezuelan field to get gas for Pt Lisas, both for the petro-chemical and for LNG.

However he said that the deal was not without its hurdles.

He explained that T&T pursued an agreement to unitize an arrangement for decisions to be made by both countries to proceed.

However he said for 15 years there was no agreement by Venezuela.

He explained that a deal has finally been reached.
