WASA Visits Beetham Gardens Residents And Gives Various Commitments

Beetham Garden residents are being assured by the Water and Sewerage Authority the utility will maintain a daily presence in the area to ensure ongoing pumping activity, in order to reduce the overflows with sanitization activated where necessary.

WASA Chief Executive Officer, Kelvin Romain, said the replacement of compromised sewerage lines, as well as a  leak reduction exercise will also be implemented in the short-term to bring immediate relief to the residents affected.

The commitments were given during a meeting the utility held with the residents to discuss issues related to sewage overflows affecting the area.

Members of the community have been adversely affected by emergency repairs currently ongoing at the Beetham Wastewater Treatment Plant, which has led to instances of overflows in parts of lower Port of Spain, including Beetham Gardens.
