Promoters Assoc: Covid measures being put in place, but people need to take personal responsibility

Head of the T&T Promoters Association Jerome “Rome” Precilla, has assured that promoters would be putting together a number of measures to help alleviate the spread of Covid at the various events, within the limitations that they have.

Speaking to media via whatsapp, following the Prime Minister’s press conference, Rome said covid19 was here and a lot was known about the virus and what needed to be done to protect one’s self.

He said he agrees with the Prime Minister that people need to take personal responsibility in the fight against it.

During Thursday’s press conference at the Diplomatic Centre, St Ann’s, PM Rowley said the covid19 cases were increasing but that Carnival would go on, as they there was no need, at this time, for new restrictions or to reintroduce those used before.
It was also revealed during the briefing that four cases of the new omicron sub-variant XBB 1.5 have already been detected in TT.

Rome is currently in Amsterdam representing the country and stated that upon his return, a meeting would be held with the promoters to discuss what would and could be put in place when it came to covid19, preventing the spread and putting people at ease so they could come out and have a good time for Carnival.

However he reiterated: “We need to take personal responsibility because we cannot afford to shut down the economy. Everyone needs to take personal responsibility.”
