River levels near threshold – especially along Caroni basin

The Met Office has warned that River levels are currently near threshold values in some parts, especially along the Caroni River basin.

Additional rainfall is expected which will further elevate river levels.

There is a moderate risk to public safety, livelihoods and property as watercourses may overtop their banks.

It has now issued a yellow level riverine flood alert until 3pm today.
