Representatives From Groups With Persons With Disabilities Benefit From Project Aimed To Promote Inclusion

Over 65 representatives from organizations for persons with disabilities, Government Ministries, Non-governmental organisation and United Nation Agencies are exposed to a project which seeks to promote Inclusion, Awareness and Access in Trinidad and Tobago.

The venture is in line with Trinidad and Tobago’s obligations to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and its commitments to the Sustainable Development Goals.

It is being implemented in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund and is scheduled to be completed by December 2023.

The project has the backing of the Pan American Health Organization and the World Health Organization.

Participants learned about incorporating disability considerations into the legislative process; strengthening the availability of support services at the community level; and strengthening the capacity of persons with disabilities through training and the provision of resources.

Representing the Deaf Empowerment and Advancement Foundation, Bryan Rodrigues expressed sincere appreciation on behalf of the deaf community, noting the focus on building awareness and the drive towards inclusion for all disabilities.
