HDC Gives Guidelines To The Public When Doing Business With The Corporation

The Housing Development Corporation warns members of the public to be aware of individuals who have been portraying themselves as employees of the HDC and have been conducting fraudulent activities.

HDC is appealing to the population and its customers not to pay money to expedite their housing application or pay for a reference number.

The corporation says the company will not:

  • Ask you to meet employees or officials outside of the head office to discuss your housing application, exchange funds or transact business.
  • Ask you to transfer funds to an employee’s bank account.
  • Contact you via social media platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp or Instagram) to transact business or discuss your housing application.

Payment for government-subsided housing must be made to an official located within the cashier’s unit at the HDC’s head office in South Quay, Port of Spain in full view of cameras.

The HDC says if any member of the public believes  he/she has been a victim of an illegal or fraudulent activity in relation to HDC housing, he/she must contact the company’s security department at 612-7432 ext 4801.
