Ralph Maraj joins UNC Round Table to repeal Procurement Amendment

Political commentator and former Minister in both PNM and UNC Administrations, Ralph Maraj, joins Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC along with other Independent Speakers Karen Nunez Tesheira, Timothy Hamel-Smith, and Gary Aboud in a Round Table to Repeal the Procurement Amendment recently passed by the PNM, against the cries of the population.

The Round Table seeks to save the Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property Act in its original form, which was the single most important tool in the history of Trinidad and Tobago to stop corruption.

The UNC says that after many years of struggle to get the original legislation passed and, later, to get it implemented, in December 2020, the Government of Trinidad and Tobago inexplicably laid Amendments in Parliament to weaken the Act, and thereby allow corruption to continue.

“The Round Table will raise awareness as to why the original Act was so important and what we as a United People can do to save it.
All is not lost. There is still hope.”

The Round Table will be held on Monday 1 February 2021 at 7:30pm and carried on TV6, Radio and TV Jaagriti, and the UNC’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
