A prison officer who was arrested years ago for the same offence, was taken into custody yesterday for bringing in cigarettes and cellphones into the Port-of-Spain prison.
Reports indicate that the officer was trying to smuggle the items, three packs of cigarettes and two cell phones, into jail during his shift when he was caught.
He was taken to the Central Police Station to be questioned.
Police are continuing investigations.
