Prison Commissioner pleased with efficient testing of over 200 inmates

Results are expected either today or tomorrow, for the over 200 inmates who were swabbed and tested on Thursday for Covid 19 at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca.

The inmates, said to number 222 in total, were tested along with 12 prison officers – all primary and secondary contacts of 18 inmates who contracted the virus last weekend and were relocated to the Claxton Bay Correctional Facility for quarantine.

Commissioner of Prisons (ag) Dennis Pulchan, praised the medical staff for making it happen and the inmates for their cooperation.

He was also pleased that the exercise was efficient enough to be contained in just one day.
