Anything is possible.
Powerful Ladies of Trinidad and Tobago (PLOTT) believes that Vice-President-elect Kamala Harris’ pivot to the White House sends a strong message to the world, and women especially, that anything is possible.
In a statement congratulating US President-elect Joe Biden and the Vice-President-elect, PLOTT said it is especially proud to celebrate Harris whose ascension to the vice-presidency as the First Woman and Woman of Colour has helped to chip away at the deeply entrenched system of white, male domination in US politics at the highest level over the last 200 years.
“We are cognisant that there are still many barriers to gender parity in political representation and are hopeful that Vice-President-elect Harris will support the inclusion of more women leaders in politics and the corridors of power in the US and around the world,” PLOTT said.
Harris made history on Saturday as the first black woman and the first person of South Asian descent elected as vice-president of the United States,
On Saturday, Democrat Joe Biden, 77, defeated President Donald Trump to become the 46th president of the United States, positioning himself to lead a nation gripped by the historic pandemic and a confluence of economic and social turmoil.
