Police appear ready to accept 4% wage increase offer

After months of back and forth and cries that a 4% salary increase to public servants was too low, President of the Police Social Welfare Association (PSWA) acting ASP Gideon Dickson, said that he has been directed by his membership to accept the offer.

Dickson said while the PSWA membership directed him to accept the offer, the association is yet to have this instruction officially.

He told the media: “We got a mandate from our membership yesterday to accept the four per cent offer with minor adjustments to allowances, that’s as much as I can say. We have nothing in writing, but we have gotten a mandate.

In September, Finance Minister Colm Imbert insisted government is prepared to only offer a four per cent wage increase for 2014-2019.
The offer was later accepted by the Amalgamated Workers Union and by the Defence Force.

Dickson has yet to meet with the CPO however.
