PM heads to Saudi Arabia; Imbert acts

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is on his way to Saudi Arabia.

The PM along with Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs Dr Amery Browne, Energy Minister Stuart Young and Minister of Agriculture Kazim Hosein left the country on Tuesday en route to Saudi Arabia for the first ever Caricom- Saudi Summit which runs from November 16th-19th.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the Summit will be co-chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Chairman of CARICOM Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Dominica. The event will also include the participation of Heads of State and Government from CARICOM, along with the CARICOM Secretary-General. The Prime Minister of St Lucia Philip Pierre has also signaled his intention to attend.

“Leaders are to participate in focused, in-depth, and active engagement on issues of mutual importance at the bilateral, inter-regional and global levels,” OPM said in its release.

Finance Minister Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister in Dr. Rowley’s absence.
