It seems that people are paying very close attention to what the Prime Minister wears.
During the Emancipation Celebrations on Tuesday, one eagled eyed blogger pointed out the watch that Dr Keith Rowley was wearing and claimed that it cost over a million TT dollars.
This led to the PM coming in for some heavy bashing by citizens, with some even calling for an Integrity Commission probe.
However, Rowley responded to the critics via a social media post this afternoon.
He said: “Glad to see that you’ll are so interested in my Tsar Bomba watch! BTW I see that this item has also sparked conversations about who gets a tax-free salary. All Ministers and Members of Parliament pay taxes on their income. I pay the full amount of taxes on my salary.”
