16,511 motorists have also been ticketed for failing to wear seatbelts.
4,644 for using mobile phones when driving and 1,402 for breach of traffic lights.
The information is contained in an update from the Police Service which urges responsible Road Use Amidst High Fatal Road Traffic Accident Figures.
There have been four road traffic deaths between August 26th and 28th.
These deaths bring the number of road fatalities to 66 compared as the same period for last year.
