Movietowne Chaguanas closing doors for good

Movie fans who have been waiting for the opportunity to sit in a movie theatre once again, will have one less theatre to visit, as the operators of Movietowne have announced the permanent closure of Movietowne Chaguanas.

According to a Trinidad Express report, Movietowne owner Derek Chin informed them that the decision stems from the Covid-19 pandemic, uncertainty surrounding government’s Covid-19 measures, as well as a “difficult landlord”.

In the report, Chin said: “The extended shut down and the continued uncertainty has made it extremely difficult to continue and in the interest of keeping our overall business in a survival mode we felt this was the best alternative for us,” he stated.

However, there is good news for the other locations as Chin stated that their branches at Port of Spain, C3 San Fernando and Tobago will open when the restrictions are relaxed.

Chin thanked their many Central and Chaguanas patrons for the support over the last 10 years.”
