Officer dragged 30-feet by car

A police constable sustained injuries to his body following a freak accident outside the Cumuto Barracks on Wednesday night.

Just before 8pm, PC Gomez, who is attached to the Canine Unit, had just parked an unmarked police vehicle near the Canine Section and was about to exit, when his foot got stuck between the pedals.

The car began to reverse, and with one foot in and part of his body outside, he was dragged approximately 30 feet.

The vehicle hit a marked police car which was parked against a wall.

His fellow officers saw the accident and took him to the Sangre Grande District Hospital, where he was treated and discharged.

PC Gomez suffered injuries to his lower back, upper left arm, left ankle and right elbow.
