The M.V. Cabo Star vessel will be towed from its current location to the Port of Scarborough where passengers will be offloaded, following a fire aboard the vessel on Wednesday night.
In an update, the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago said the fire, which originated in the engine room, was extinguished by members of the crew in accordance with the vessel’s emergency protocols.
The Authority said no injuries were reported and all passengers and crew are safe.
It added meals are being provided for everyone on board the vessel.
After passengers are offloaded, the Port Authority said the vessel will be towed to Port of Spain to undertake investigations by the insurers, certification by the Maritime Services Division and repair works to Engine #2.
It added the service will resume only when the vessel has been certified safe to operate.
