Meteorologist warns more rainfall to come

Persons are being warned not to be fooled by the lack of rainfall in some parts of the country.

An orange level adverse weather alert and orange level riverine flood alert both remain in effect.

The Met Office says the public can expect prolonged periods of rain and intense showers with a high (80%) chance of thunderstorm activity along with gusty winds.

It adds that street/flash flooding and localized flooding are also likely as River levels are currently near threshold values with increased rainfall overwhelming water courses and causing rivers to burst their banks

However, residents in some parts of Trinidad are reporting cloudy conditions but no rain.

News Power Now spoke with meteorologist Gary Benjamin who said persons should not be deceived by the conditions.

He stressed however that the situation is being continuously monitored.
