Maloney police arrested three persons in an Operation Strike Back exercise

On April 28th, 2021, around 11:50 pm, officers of the Maloney Criminal Investigations Department proceeded to Building Five, Maloney Gardens, D’abadie, after receiving information that several men were armed with
firearms.

On arrival at the housing settlement, officers observed three suspects on the western side of Building Five – two of the men were holding firearms in their hands and appeared to be having a conversation.

The officers announced their presence and two of the men pointed their firearms in the direction of the party of officers and several loud explosions were heard.

The officers exercised the Use of Force Policy and discharged a total of seven rounds among themselves in the direction of the suspects.

One of the suspects dropped one blue Glock P80 Pistol on the ground and all three suspects ran in a southerly direction.

A chase ensued and the suspects were apprehended a short distance away. The officers recovered the firearm which contained one magazine and 15 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition.

The three suspects, ages 25, 26 and 32, from Maloney Gardens, Five Rivers, Arouca, and San Juan respectively.

The men are expected to be charged by tomorrow for possession of firearm, ammunition, possession of a component part, shooting with intent, and possession of a firearm and ammunition to endanger life.

Officers also searched several abandoned apartments where eight persons were detained for shooting enquires in the Maloney district.
